The film is based on the 1980 novel ‘The Name Of The Rose’ by Umberto Eco and is directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. It’s a medieval murder mystery set in Northern Italy. Taking the lead roles are Sean Connery, Christian Slater and F. Murray Abraham with a supporting cast that included Feodor Chaliapin Jr., Michael Lonsdale, Valentina Vargas, Ron Perlman and William Hickey. This Polish poster by the renowned artist Jakub Erol is extremely different from the western versions in it’s conception being somewhat ‘darker’ reflecting the more less palatable moments in the film.
