The Exorcist - an early 1970s supernatural horror film based on the novel by William Peter Blatty Set in the contemporary time of its making and gaining notoriety, and enormous box office (even by today’s standards) due to its subject matter, centred around a young girl, and aided and abetted by the wonderfully atmospheric soundtrack by Jack Nitzsche which included Mike Oldfield’s ‘Tubular Bells’. Directed by William Friedkin and starring Ellen Burnstyn, Max von Sydow, Jack MacGowan and the young Linda Blair as Regan the central character.
