The Angel Wore Red 1960 is an American (MGM) and Italian (TITANUS) co production set during the Spanish civil war. All aspects of the film were produced in both languages - English and Italian, including a completely different music score. The screenplay was written by Nunnally Johnson, who also directed, which he adapted from a 1953 novel by Bruce Marshall called The Fair Bride. The Film Starred Ava Gardner and Dirk Bogarde and in the supporting cast were Joseph Cotton, Vittorio De Sica, Aldo Fabrizi and Enrico Maria Salerno. MGM took charge of the poster image so as to feature their star, Ava Gardner who is shown on the poster in full length to make the most of her reputation as an international sex symbol of those times. And there she is in all her glory superimposed over the full size face of her co star, Britain’s biggest male star at the time, Dirk Bogarde. The Poster is quite rare nowadays and has become a sought after classic from the old MGM days.
