Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid 1969 is an American ‘buddy film’ of the western genre. Set in the late 19th Century in what is left of the wild west, successful outlaws Robert LeRoy Parker aka Butch Cassidy ( Paul Newman), and Harry Longabaugh aka The Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) take on one train robbery too many and it goes wrong. The second half of the film centres around a crack team - a posse - chasing the two fugitives across the southern states to stop them crossing the border…..and freedom. Katherine Ross plays the love interest of The Sundance Kid and also in the supporting cast are Strother Martin, Jeff Corey and Henry Jones. Directed by George Roy Hill from a screen play by William Goldman which is based loosely on fact and old wild west folklore.
